About the Journal

An Open Access Journal for Gender Studies

Open Gender Journal (ISSN: 2512-5192) publishes scholarly contributions from the scholarly field of intersectional gender studies. This encompasses various methodological and theoretical orientations, including but not limited to gender studies, queer studies, diversity studies, feminist studies, women's studies, disability studies, racism studies, classism studies, critical whiteness, post- and decolonial studies.

Articles can be submitted at any time. No publication costs are incurred. Open Gender Journal is published by the Fachgesellschaft Geschlechterstudien  (Gender Studies Association), the Margherita von Brentano Center for Gender Studies, FU Berlin, Gender Studies in Cologne (GeStiK), University of Cologne, and the Center for Transdisciplinary Gender Studies, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and the Gender Research Office, University of Vienna. 

Open Access Statement

All contributions in OGJ are issued under the license “Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International“. Published contributions can be used free of charge under the terms of the license (license agreement, human-readable summary). There is no exclusive copyright transfer to the journal. OGJ does not charge publication, article or submission fees (so called APCs).

Archiving & Indexing

All contributions and PDFs are identifiable through DOIs. OGJ has its contributions and PDFs archived by the German National Library (Deutsche Nationalbibliothek) and the GenderOpen Repositorium. OGJ is indexed in various international open access databases and journal databases, such as the Directory of Open Access Journals, BASE and Google Scholar.

Review Process

OGJ operates according to the currently recognized standards for scientific publications. This includes a review process that includes editorial team assessment as well as peer review for research articles.
